Yay! I love the summertime! Sorry I haven't been on the boards for a few days, but there are the grand-kids birthdays, and school programs, and graduations! In their spare time Bill and Steve built us a great new deck, just in time for Memorial Day Burgers! Hope you all have a safe and happy Holiday Weekend!
I am glad that summer is here as well! Nothing against looking out the window and watching the snow fall, but after a while it gets old. Either way, I am at least allowed the last few days of peace and quiet before school lets out for the year. Does anyone have any big plans for summer or will you do a "staycation" due to the economy? I know we are too broke to go anywhere besides using the season pass for Six Flags. Thank goodness it's at least close for us!
Yeah we'll sneak off for at least a week on the bike somewhere, this year it is going to be the Gatlinburg, TN area. The rest will be more local, I can't believe how fast the calendar is filling up!
Sorry that I haven't been on for a while, I have just been running around since school let out. The oldest child is taking violin lessons, we have been at the pool almost everyday that it hasn't rained, 3 trips to Six Flags and a trip to K.C. to visit my mother. Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention that we went to the St. Louis Zoo twice to pet live stingrays (REALLY COOL!). We are also looking to go to Grants Farm this year as well. The boys had the chance to sing the National Anthem on the field of Busch Stadium as well. All this and we still are planning on going to the State Fair as well. Just thinking about all this makes me tired!
Reenacting has (thankfully enough) slacked off for the months of July and August. It's just too hot to do anything then much less run around in wool uniforms and long sleeve dresses. September and October are looking to be busy for us though.
I know that there has been some concern locally regarding Six flags filing for Bankruptcy, but a friend of mine who works for the park as a warehouse supervisor, received an e-mail from the company president that was distributed companywide that stated that thyey are simply restructuring their debt and everything will remain business as usual with no loss of jobs or hours scheduled.
Glad to hear that there are at least some folks that won't be losing their jobs, there has been too much of that lately. It makes you worry!
We got to pet the stingrays at the aquarium in Gatlinburg last time we were there and your right - that is cool!
I guess the reason I love this time of the year is that we never run out of things to do! I just got back from nine glorious days of riding off into the sunset and it is back to work for me tomorrow!
(Well at least until I get a chance to escape again! ) :)
I think I'll be hitting up Big Surf, go to the Lake of the Ozarks some, maybe take a trip to Silver Dollar City, then get some Ghost Vigil Day-Trips scheduled. Busy, busy, busy...is it fall yet?
I'm no surfer. I've tried and already figured out that it's not for me, or rather, I'm not capable of surfing. Big Surf, on the other hand, is a reasonably good water park down at the Lake of the Ozarks. I haven't been there or places like Six Flags, Oceans of Fun, Silver Dollar City, etc, since I was a kid; and I've kinda had an inkling to take a trip to one or two of them this summer.
LOL- Thanks for claifying that surfing thing- just shows I do need to get out more often!
I love just about anything to do with the water - although I haven't been to any of the water parks yet, one of my favorite summer past times is renting a pontoon with a grill on it and spending a lazy day on the lake swimming and hanging out.
