The Parlor Bed and Breakfast

Has anyone visited the Parlor B & B over by St Louis? I had a recommendation from a fellow ghost hunter that this place is almost guaranteed to deliver an experience. It used to be a funeral parlor. My husband and I will be going to check it out over the weekend of Nov. 22 and will report back any experiences we may have.

Also, someone from the Leavenworth area told me about a hotel in which there is rumored to be a female spirit who does not like men around there, and has reportedly pushed them to get them to leave. Does anyone know where this place is?

I would be really interested in finding out where that hotel in Leavenworth is too. Sounds like a place I want to visit!

I can't believe someone made a B&B out of a funeral parlor!!! There has to be at least some residual haunting in it! I mean jez the emotion the building had to have obsorbed!! Can't wait for the evedence!

Hello! It has certainly been a busy week. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
Jeff and I made it to the B & B. It was so warm and cosy! If anyone is over in Eastern Missouri, I would recommend staying at The Parlor.

I was so excited about the possible experiences we might encounter. There have been numerous reports of seeing full body apparitions, one of a woman who would often appear coming from the kitchen. It was told she would look the person in the eyes and smile and turn back to the kitchen. There was also a little boy who was seen sometimes sitting on the coffee table and one man had reported seeing him standing in front of him just looking.

I had a few personal experiences there shortly after checking in. I had walked out to the hallway to admire the hanging light when I heard a woman say something that sounded as though it came from the back stairway. I looked down and there was no one there so I thought Suzie, the owner, was talking to someone down near the stairs.I really didn't think anything of it at the time until the only other woman in the house, Suzie, walked out from one of the back bedrooms, totally startling me. There was no one down stairs as her significant other was outside. I later learned that the original owner of the house had boarded up the back stairway on both sides. Suzie did not know about it until a few years back. This stairwell was hidden because one of the little girls who lived there kept reporting seeing a lady in the stairway that scared her. Of course no one else saw this lady, but they believed the girl.

We were also told about how the doorbell rings all the time and no one is there. They have become used to it so unless the doorbell is rung twice, they just ignored it. I noticed this when Jeff had gone out to get a bag out of the car and had rung the bell. I was talking to Suzie at the time and she completely ignored it until it rang again and I said Jeff had gone outside.

When Jeff and I retreated to our room, we relaxed and suddenly I became so tired, I could not stay awake! Very unusual for me, but it was a long trip and thought maybe that had worn me out. I first was only going to nap, but I just couldn't stay awake when Jeff awoke me. So he had tried to get some EVPs and finally just left the recorder going and went to bed himself.

I tossed and turned a lot that night. I had woke up to the doorbell a couple of times. I woke up and heard what sounded like a ball being bounced near our bed. Jeff had heard a dog whine next to him, as well as the doorbell and occasionally hearing the ball being bounced. I had also heard a baby cry during the night and heard the sound of a woman laugh. I have a hard time believing that I was as tired as I was...I just could not wake up until morning.

We had recounted the experiences to Suzie and she verified that many people also heard a baby cry. I had heard it while I was sitting at the table but no one else heard it. She verified that many guests also spoke of a bouncing ball sound near the bed. She verified that the doorbell rang more than once. I was excited to get home to see what we had caught!

After reviewing the recording, I was surprised that the ball bouncing occurred quite often during the course of the night. The noise would last for 5 minutes sometimes. It had a definite "rubbery" ball sounding sound. Jeff and I tried to see if we could find a reason for this sound, but we could not. There were radiators in the rooms, but Jeff and I have grown up with radiators and hot water heating noises. This was not from the radiators. We could find no reason for the rubbery sound of the ball.

Unfortunately the recorder did not capture any thing else except for the doorbell. It did not capture a baby crying nor a woman laughing.

Jeff and I would like to return to The Parlor next summer and spend a couple of days. It is definitely worth it even if there was no experiences. Suzie makes you feel like part of the family and her home is warm and comfortable.

Wow, It sounds like this place has some definite activity going on, I need to put this on my list of places I want to go to. It's too bad you didn't have your recorder with you when you heard the lady on the stairs. Sounds like the owners are pretty used to the things that are going on, do you know if they have ever tried to research the history of the place? It would be interesting to find out who the ghosts might be.

You definitely should visit! It would be a nice place to spend couple of days. Here is the website if you want to see it. It doesn't say anything about the paranormal activities though. You may have to copy and paste, that seems to be the way my Mac works sometimes.

Believe me... the owner can talk your ear off with all the information and then some! She is really wonderful. She did mention there had been a battle during the civil war near the house, but the house had not been built yet. She was out gardening and found an egg sized cannon ball that they used back then. I can't remember the name she gave, but she did say it was verified....

Now it is time to meet and go ghost hunting!

I am definitiely interested in this one, and I love hearing about the history of these places. Ghost hunting is what it's all about it!

If you ever decide to go there for a visit, you may want to check out the Fort Davidson State Historic Site. Apparently, in recent years, there has been talk of paranormal activity there. but nothing that I have heard of or could confirm. Beautiful area to travel in during the fall though.
