First of all what is an EVP session, you might consider it an interview with an intelligent spirit. Seriously, that is what we are trying to accomplish with these sessions, contact and information.
EVP stands for Electronic Voice Phenomena. These noises, words, etc, are caught on either a digital recorder, cassete recorder, or video camera .Recently there has been much controversy about the use of digital recorders and the way that they process information that some in the field believe skews what is caught on them. Basically they are saying that the way the recorders process the information is causing some of the EVP's. I'm not sure I buy that theory. But MME's process is to use both digital and cassette tape recorders.
Here are some things to keep in mind when you are doing an EVP session.
Set the recorder in a stable place, note the time, the people present and the location before you begin. Ask your questions clearly and allow at least 10-15 seconds for a potential response. If you move or take a picture, state that you are doing so, that way when the evidence is reviewed, the noises you are making moving around won't be confused for para activity. When you are structuring your questions try to keep them direct and stay away from multiple choice questions.
Don't forget to note when you are ending a session in one room and starting one in another, this will help you cross reference back to other devices like your video camera, etc. if you do happen to capture something.
Happy Hunting!
